The general consensus amongst the tech world is that Apple will not be announcing an iPhone 4S or iPhone 5 (or any other name) until later this year, with perhaps an iOS announcement coming at WWDC which runs from 6th to 10th of June.
But according to ElectricPig, Apple’s UK PR department has been trying to round up UK-based journalists in an attempt to convince them to attend the company’s little shindig.
A source tells us that Apple’s UK iPhone PR team is approaching journalists from major publications to fly out to the event in San Francisco next month. The obvious conclusion would be that Apple is announcing a new iPhone. Or rather, an updated model. The iPhone 4S is slated as a stop-gap before the appearance of a true, ‘&%!*, they’ve done it again!’ game-changer next year.
So am I having a deja-vu from last year or is Apple doing this all over again? Last year iPhone 3GS came few months before (March) the iPhone 4 was launched (June) in rest of the world.
The other rumor is that Apple has decreased the production of the iPhone 4 and stopped production of the iPhone 3GS to make way for iPhone 5 production. Also Omnivision will be making next iPhone’s 8MP camera.
