Sony has announced on their Blog the list of device that are going to get the latest Android 4.0 and when that’s going to happen.
Sony has confirmed that the first 2011 smartphones will be upgraded to Android 4.0 starting from end March/early April 2012. The first smartphones to get the upgrade are Xperia arc S, Xperia neo V and Xperia ray. Then after, starting from end April/early May, Xperia arc, Xperia PLAY, Xperia neo, Xperia mini and mini pro, Xperia pro, Xperia active as well as Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman will get their upgrades.
This is a pretty good news as Sony is taking care of most of the capable handsets out there and this is where LG, Motorola and Samsung owners are going to envy as their respective manufacturers have pretty much left all their single core/ non dual core handsets to Android 2.3 and below.
Sony Ericsson launched the Xperia X10 and it took them nearly a year to update it for Android 1.6 to the next upgrade (that’s Android 2.3 and it’s not going to 4.0) and their were many frustrated customers and hope it’s not like last time where there were delays after delays.
