If you are one of the many people waiting to hear about an iPhone 4 unlock then we have an update for you today. This is in relation to baseband 3.10.01 and 2.10.04. As you probably already know, the iPhone Dev Team have already stated that an unlock for the iPhone 4 on newer basebands is not going to be released until iOS 4.3.
iOS 4.3 is due to be launched very soon and we have just received some new information on the upcoming Ultrasn0w unlock for iPhone 4. This information comes from the iPhone baseband hacker Sherif Hashim. He has stated that the baseband crash that he found is confirmed to be working on both the new basebands 3.10.01 and 2.10.04.
If you follow Sherif on Twitter you will have seen his posts about his latest find and if you don’t they are shown below so that you can read them for yourself.
VaMpYrE7: @sherif_hashim Hi Sherif, I dont wanna ask about an ETA but I just wanna know if uve found an exploit for bb 03.10.01 or not, w8ng patiently
Sherif_Hashim: @VaMpYrE7 the one I found is working for both
Once Apple release iOS 4.3 there may be a little wait until the iPhone Dev Team release their updated version of the Ultrasn0w unlock to the public and this could take up to two weeks as they finalize all their testing on the new iOS 4.3 code.
If you are waiting on an iPhone 4 unlock then the good news is that you shouldn’t have to wait much longer. Ultrasn0w should be ready to go a couple of weeks after iOS 4.3 is released so be sure to keep your eyes peeled and if we have any further information we will be sure to update you.
